This popular day tour allows you to enjoy a little bit of a sleep in with a 10:15am departure, before showing you two of Bavaria's most famous attractions. This tour is seasonal and operates from April to October only.
Description: Two of the most precious jewels of Bavaria can be seen during this full day tour with a late departure of 10:15am.
The smallest of three royal castles, Linderhof was built by King Ludwig II during the 19th century as a hunting lodge. Built in French Rococo style, the castle has a fantastic grotto and Moorish pavilion which can be visited during your two hour stay.
You will then travel to Oberammergau, world-famous for its woodcarvers, richly painted houses (Luftl-paintings) and Passion Play. During the Thirty Years War, after months of suffering and death from the plague, the people of Oberammergau swore an oath to perform the "Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" every ten years. This tradition has been preserved since then, and the next Passion Play will be performed in 2010.
You will have time for sightseeing and shopping in Oberammergau, before returning to Munich.
